Disney Villains Are About To Be A Major Trend Thanks To NYFW SS19
Stuck on Inspo for your winter wardrobe? Then how about dressing like a Disney villain - it is NYFW approved, after all…
With New York Fashion Week well under way, it was down to The Blonds to inject a little throwback to your childhood into the runway.
Opting for a collection themed around classic Disney villains, they debuted some of the most wicked looks yet at their show over the weekend.
From a high fashion Maleficent to a (thankfully cruelty free) sparkly Dalmatian-patterned Cruella de Vil, the brand are reimagining and upgradingthe antagonists’ classic outfits.
As Creative Director David Blond explains: “The villains are meant to be secondary characters… but they have always stood out to us because they have the best style, the most personality and are the coolest.”
There were a few familiar faces modelling in the show too, with Paris Hilton channelling the 101 Dalmatians baddie on the runway.
Then there was YouTube’s Patrick Starrras the most fabulous Ursula the Sea Witch, complete with feather boa tentacles.
Shout out to Ursula’s henchmen too: her eel minions Flotsam and Jetsam have never looked more chic than in matching sequin catsuits and winged sunglasses.
Even the nails are a work of art, with the models’ individually bedazzled falsies apparently taking over 500 hours to make.
“These villains use their nails to do their evil deeds," Creative Director Jan Arnold tells ELLE, adding that the shapes of each nail are intended to be "weapon-like" as a nod to their characters.
With celeb fans including Rihanna, Nicki Minaj and Gwen Stefani, prepare to see these villainous looks from The Blonds taking centre stage when the collection drops for SS19.
