People Aren't Happy With This NYFW Designer For Portraying Justin Bieber As Jesus
There's also a t-shirt with fetus One Direction on, because obviously.
At every fashion week there's always a mix of the good, the bad and the just plain bonkers, but the designers at Namilia have taken things to a whole new level at New York Fashion Week this time around.
Debuting a pop culture inspired collection with a twist, the pieces include a dress with the faces of fetus One Direction on the front and a denim bra with tiny Leonardo DiCaprio faces where the nipples would usually be.
But it's the dresses and t-shirts involving Justin Bieber that are causing controversy with some and it's all thanks to the fact that they portray our dear Lord Belieber as, well, Jesus.
While the collection is a pretty cool take on the way streetwear influences pop culture, not everyone is loving the new line that was debuted on the NYFW catwalk this weekend.
Designed by Namilia - a collaborative effort between two German designers, one of who is also involved in designing Yeezy Season 4 - it features all sorts of little nods to celebs, including about three different pieces with JB on.
In each one, there is some sort of religious context with traditional Christian depictions of Jesus altered to incorporate the image of Justin including one with him on the cross.
Paired with frou-frou skirts, intricate leather masks embellished with chains and motifs like 'My heart Biebs 4 U', it's definitely quite the style statement.
Fans aren't all happy to see JB's image being used though and on Instagram there were many comments stating they found the whole thing a bit disrespectful, especially given Justin's faith and previous assertion he "doesn't want to be compared to God" after some slightly crazy tabloid headlines.
Still, at least Namilia have some handy styling tips that we can all use in real life. Like if you need some ideas on how to style your Leo DiCaprio themed bikini, a good leather mask will work wonders...
And if you need some inspo on how to style your One Direction merch in a new and inventive way, why not try mixing it up with a face condom?
We joke, but are also quite into the use of fetus 1D on that dress.
