Nike's New Self-Tying Trainers Are Straight Out Of Back To The Future
The future is here.
While someone is yet to invent an un-send button for awkward texts or even a version of autocorrect that isn't totally insane, we can all sleep a touch easier tonight thanks to Nike, who have decided it's time to invent self-tying trainers.
Because, you know, who wants to waste precious moments bending down and tying a bow when your robot shoes could do it for you?
To be fair, these trainers are pretty damn cool and the effect is like something out of Back To The Future as these shoes are so clever that they actually know when you've put your foot in and will automatically tie themselves.
You do retain a little bit of control and can tighten or loosen the fit using the plus and minus controls - much like the ones you'd get on earphone volume controls - on the side of the shoes, much like Marty McFly's in the classic movie.
Nike have been beavering away on these bad boys for ages, but now the HyperAdapt 1.0 are ready and will apparently go on sale before Christmas.
They won't be easy to get your hands on though as Nike are marketing them mainly at athletes and only members of their Nike+ fitness service will be able to purchase them.
Forget the self-tying thing - if light up trainers don't realise all your 10-year-old dreams, we don't know what will.
Footballer Cristiano Ronaldo is pretty jammy and has already got his hands on a pair:
There's no denying they're gonna look great when you're cruising around town in the DeLorean but what do you reckon - think these are going to catch on?
