Why DO Brides Wear White, Anyway?
We have the answers…
What do you see when you picture the perfect wedding? We’re not mind readers, but we’re pretty sure any fantasy will involve beautiful flowers, blushing bridesmaids, and a stunning white wedding dress. Well, have you ever wondered exactly why you’re meant to wear white?
Turns out you got Queen Victoria to thank.

So, we all know that white indicated purity, but did you know that way back in the day, 176 years ago to be precise, it was just as appropriate to wear red on your wedding day? Both were considered to display the wearer’s… how do we put this… downstairs honour.
So how is it that white endured, and red became a symbol of lust and desire?
What a breathtaking dress that got us falling in love! Grandeur and elegant, we are super loving the floral details here and there that totally infuses a feminine and sweet look to this ball gown piece by @malyarovaolga. Glamorous and extravagant without being over the top, this dress is surely a nice alternative for those who are planning for an indoor wedding! Who's agree with us? Double tap if you do!
Well, we’re not sure when red took a turn, but as for white winning out you can put it down to the popular American publication, Godey’s Lady’s Book (best name ever), who wrote:
"White is the most fitting hue, whatever may be the material. It is an emblem of the purity and innocence of girlhood, and the unsullied heart she now yields to the chosen one."
It just so happened that old Queen Vic decided to wear white on her wedding day, not ten years earlier. We always thought she was a bit of a trendsetter!
So, there you have it! Every day’s a nice day for a white wedding…
