Why This Might Be Your Last Chance To Shop For Swimwear From Victoria's Secret
The brand are reportedly set to ditch their swim line for good.
There's some bad news for anyone who's go-to bikini shopping spot involves a visit to Victoria's Secret, as the brand are reportedly considering ditching their swimwear line for good.
The US underwear giant have always been big in the swimwear department, but after a drop in sales, it's being reported that they may have decided to stop selling any bikinis and swimsuits in favour of focusing on their activewear sales.
This isn't because VS are bored of the beach, but to get technical, is apparently a business move thanks to a considerable drop to their previous $500million slice of swimwear sales in the period between the summers of 2014 and 2015.
According to BuzzFeed News, L Brand - that's the parent company that owns Victoria's Secret - have apparently said they are to ditch "certain merchandise categories" and will focus primarily on three divisions: Victoria's Secret lingerie, Victoria's Secret beauty and Pink going forwards.
Instead it is thought that space in VS shops previously reserved for swimwear will now be given over to their burgeoning activewear line.
While there's no official confirmation swimwear will definitely be gone, you'll notice it isn't mentioned in any of the above categories and a source told the website that the brand "will be exiting out of all current inventory by the end of this year.”
That seems to suggest no new swimwear will be released after the current season and we're guessing that also means we might be saying goodbye to the summery VS Swimwear Special that usually pops up on your telly screen in March too.
OH CRUEL WORLD.
