Woman Suing Zara After Finding Dead Mouse 'Sewn Into Her Dress'
That feeling of joy you get from splurging down the shops is about to turn into the stuf of nightmares thanks to reports that a woman is now suing high street giant Zara after allegedly finding a dead mouse sewn into the hem of her new dress.
Unfortunately for the woman in question, she didn't find aforementioned mouse corpse when she got it home either and was apparently actually wearing the dress when she felt something rubbing on her leg. On investigation she realised it was a tiny little mouse leg protruding from the seam and scratching her.
Yep we know, SO. GROSS.
24-year-old Cailey Fiesel bought the $40 black dress in Conneticut back in July and says it wasn't until she was wearing it at work that she noticed a "disturbingly pungent odour." Only when she got up and the smell followed her (EWWW) did she then notice what she says she thought was a "piece of string" hanging from a seam.
As it turns out, this "string" was apparently the decaying mouse's leg and was still attached to its body, which was obscured inside the hem.
“I felt something brushing up against my leg and thought it was a string from the seam of the dress,” she told the New York Post. “I then felt the hem of the dress and it felt like there was some sort of sensor. I turned up the seam of the dress and saw it was not a sensor and that it was a mouse.
“I froze - I was paralysed with fear,” she adds “I was in complete shock. My eyes saw that it was a mouse but my brain told myself it can’t be."
After apparently suffering from a large rash she says has been diagnosed as a "rodent-born disease," Cailey is suing Zara. The dress with the rodent inside has apparently been vacuum-sealed to be used as evidence.
Speaking about the claims, a spokesperson for Zara said they were "aware of the suit and we are investigating the matter further.
“Zara USA has stringent health and safety standards, and we are committed to ensuring that all of our products meet these rigorous requirements.”
