Shailene Woodley Talks Emotional 'Fault In Our Stars' Performance
Actress says herself and co-star Ansel Elgort wanted to do justice to John Green's novel...
Woodley plays Hazel Grace Lancaster in the movie adaptation of John Green's novel - which tells the tale of a couple who meet at a cancer support group, with her Divergent co-star Elgort playing love interest Augustus Waters.
Speaking ahead of a New York screening of the flick - where the cast and Green surprised fans - Shailene explained: "It felt good because this book is so special that we sort of felt that we wanted to be the carriers of it, you know, and protect it.
"Whoever was lucky enough to be part of the film it was our responsible to not do the best acting job that we possibly could but to bring Hazel and Gus to life in the most authentic, truthful way possible. "
She added: "And so you just hope, we hope that people who are fans of the book would also be fans of the movie simply because the movie paid justice to John Green's beautiful artistry."
The Fault In Our Stars hits UK cinemas on June 19.
