Fergie Responds To Criticism Of Her Star Spangled Banner Performance

The singer opted to put a bluesy spin on the US national anthem, but her decision to go rogue and inject some personality into the song didn’t quite hit the right note with viewers at home.

While there’s no denying it became a major talking point during the game, Fergie has now responded to some of the more brutal comments about her performance.

She continued: “I’m a risk taker artistically, but clearly this rendition didn’t strike the intended tone. I love this country and honestly tried my best.”

At the time, Golden State Warriors player Draymond Green appeared to be holding back laughter during the performance, while the camera panned to equally stunned members ofthe team and audience.

It turns out the rendition has become something of a sleeper hit, with fans taking to social-media to defend the performance and praise Fergie'smemorable delivery.
