5 Acts We Loved At Strawberries & Creem 2019
Strawberries & Creem was a viiiibe! Check out our top picks from the Cambridge festival...
Now in its sixth year, Strawberries & Creem festival in Cambridge shows no sign of slowing down. This year’s line-up was second to none for urban music fans as it brought in big hitters such as Stefflon Don, Ms Dynamite and Sean Kingston, as well as giving a platform for new, up and coming acts such as Young T & Bugsey, Jimothy Lacoste & more! Read on for our five top picks from the day with MTV On The Road...
Jimothy
We’re OBSSESSED with Jimothy Lacoste, aka Jimothy, aka Jimothy From The 70s, so we literally RAN to see him at Strawberries & Creem festival this year. He bounded onto the stage with the infectious energy we all know and love before launching into tracks such as ‘Getting Talkative’, ‘FUTURE BAE’ and of course, his iconic track ‘I Can Speak Spanish’. We caught Jimothy's legendary KOKO show on Valentine's Day this year and not only was it romantic AF, it proved that he can sell out these iconic venues with a bright future ahead of him. At a Jimothy show it’s not just the catchy tunes that will make you want to see him again, it’s his incredible freestyle dancing (he even wrote a song about it!). Don’t believe us? Go and see him for yourself next time he tours!
Stefflon Don
Our Queen, Stefflon Don, gave us everything we wanted and more at this year’s Strawberries & Creem festival. Performing her hits such as ‘Shot & Wine’, ‘Boasty’ and of course, ‘Hurtin’ Me’ we couldn’t help but dance along with the crowds in Cambridge who has come out to see her. Not only is Steff an excellent performer, she can bust out the dance moves too, and not to mention her killer outfits!
Sean Kingston
Somebody call 911, Sean Kingston is back in our lives and better than ever! He took to the stage at Cambridge’s Strawberries & Creem festival and took us on a trip down memory lane with timeless bangers like ‘Fire Burning’ and ‘Beautiful Girls’. He knocked the sing-a-long competition out of the park with the whole crowd shouting back the lyrics to each of his songs.
Young T & Bugsey
Our absolute fave duo Young T & Bugsey took to the stage at Strawberries & Creem to bring the fun and all-round good vibes. The pair were on our MTV PUSH: Ones To Watch 2019 list and we’ve been supporting the lads ever since! Their live shows are always full of energy as they perform hit tracks such as ‘Strike A Pose’, ‘Ay Caramba’ and ‘4x4’. The crowds in Cambridge lapped them up as they packed out the tent they were playing in. We can’t wait to see the boys again soon!
Mahalia
Another act from our MTV PUSH: Ones To Watch 2019 list that was on the Strawberries & Creem line-up was the incredible Mahalia. If you’ve not seen her live yet, where have you been? We caught her iconic Scala gig earlier this year where she sold-out the venue on her 20th birthday - what were you guys doing for your 20th birthday eh? She performed bops such as ‘Wish I Missed My Ex’ and ‘Do Not Disturb’ from her long-awaited new record LOVE AND COMPROMISE, and we have no choice but to stan.
