Lauren Jauregui Pens Powerful Letter To Donald Trump About The Muslim Ban
Lauren Jauregui speaks out against Trump.
Lauren Jauregui has condemned Donald Trump's move to temporarily ban Muslims from certain countries entering the US, arguing that the policy is unjust and "disrespectful to humanity."
Adding her voice to the many celebrities who have spoken out about Trump's policies, the Fifth Harmony star is now calling on the citizens of the US to "fight back" against the discriminatory policy in a letter shared with People.
Explaining that everyone bar Native Americans can trace their history back to an immigrant, she wrote: "Raise your hand if you are an immigrant, or the sons and daughters of immigrant parents, or the grandchildren of immigrants, or the great-grandchildren, or great-great-grandchildren?
Pointing out that Donald Trump isn't even an indigenous American himself, she said: "Wait…are everyone’s hands up -- including yours, Mr. Trump -- except for the Indigenous people of the Americas?! Because they should be.”
She then called on everyone to "fight back" against intolerance, pleading: “If you are going to these protests, if you need health insurance for yourself or a sick loved one, if you are a woman, if you are a person of color, if you are disabled, if you practice any sort of religion, if you care about the air you breathe and the water you drink, if you showed up to that women’s march in whatever city or state or country or town you came from, you need to fight back.”
This isn't the first time Lauren has spoken out against Donald Trump - she came out as bisexual in an open letter addressed to his supporters back in November, stating: "I am a bisexual Cuban-American woman and I am so proud of it."
