Charlie Hunnam: I'm Taking Fifty Shades Role Seriously
Lead actor promises fans he'll do his best as Christian Grey...
Charlie Hunnam has been discussing his lead role in the movie adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey - and promises he's taking it "very seriously".
The casting of the Sons Of Anarchy actor and Dakota Johnson in the big-screen version of EL James' erotic novel has caused a stir among fans.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Charlie said he understood the unhappiness.
"There are so many fans of that book and I know that on the surface, I'm probably not what everybody imagined," he said.
"Because reading is so personal and people bring a character to life in their imagination, they feel ownership over that character."
And he admitted that the pressure would be "daunting if I allowed myself to think about it too much".
He added: "I'm taking it very seriously and intend to explore the nature of who this character is, what motivates him - and also dress up nice and look good in those suits."
He recently revealed that he struggled to decide whether he should take the role.
