Ryan Gosling 'Turned Down Fifty Shades Role'
R-Gos claimed to have passed on erotic novel adaptation early on...
Hollywood hunk Ryan Goslingwas among the stars to turn down the chance of the lead role in the movie version of Fifty Shades Of Grey, it has been reported.
R-Gos is claimed by The Hollywood Reporter to have been the original target - but to have ruled himself out of the project early in the casting process because he just wasn't interested.
Garrett Hedlund from On The Road is another actor claimed to have passed, despite heavy interest from the movie studio, because he "couldn't connect with the character" of bondage-loving billionaire Christian Grey.
Former British soap star Christian Cooke was also apparently under consideration to play Grey, but the part went to fellow Brit and Sons Of Anarchy star Charlie Hunnam.
Shailene Woodley was one of the early tips to play Anastasia Steele and was apparently game for the sex scenes - but her publicity schedule for Divergent is claimed to have ruled her out.
Alicia Vikander, Imogen Poots and Elizabeth Olsen were all claimed to have also been under consideration - along with Felicity Jones, although she was judged too old at 30 (the character is supposed to be 21).
But Dakota Johnson - who got the role - is claimed to have been the top choice of director Sam Taylor-Johnson.
However fans have not been so enthusiastic about the casting, with a petition calling for a change in casting attracting thousands of names.
