Sam Taylor-Johnson Quits Fifty Shades Of Grey Franchise
The Brit director has stepped down from the erotic film series as she thanks Jamie and Dakota for the "incredible journey"...
Despite the film's overwhelming success, Taylor-Johnson said in a statement that while she is "hugely grateful" she won't be back for Fifty Shades Darker.
"While I will not be returning to direct the sequels, I wish nothing but success to whoever takes on the exciting challenges of films two and three," she said in a statement.
"Directing Fifty Shades of Grey has been an intense and incredible journey for which I am hugely grateful. I have Universal to thank for that. I forged close and lasting relationships with the cast, producers and crew and most especially, with Dakota and Jamie."
While no official reason was given as to her reason for leaving, it has been suggested that author EL James wants more creative control over the films, which caused clashes on set.
Screenwriter Kelly Marcel is also not to be involved with the sequel, which is slated for a 2016 release.
Though don't panic, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson are both thought to be returning. Phew!
