Sam Taylor-Johnson Talks Walking On A Knife Edge With Fifty Shades Of Grey
The director opens up about one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and how she's coping with the pressure…
The Brit explains in an interview with Red magazine that it's not been a calm experience taking on the project.“I’m literally going out of my mind. I have seen this film over a thousand times and I’m now in a blancmange," she explained.
"But the nuances within - the tiniest shift, look, blink of an eye - can make all the difference and flip it into the wrong territory. It’s like walking a knife edge."
The content of the movie meant a whole load of research had to be done, which we already know involved a sex dungeon for Jamie Dornan.
“Jamie [Dornan, who plays Christian Grey] and I had to sit and meet various dominants and dominatrix, just to make sure we understood that world; so that we in no way portrayed it incorrectly," she revealed.
As for what the star of the film is like, she said: “Jamie’s funny because he doesn’t seem to feel any of the pressure. Or show he feels it. Everything washes over him and he’s constantly happy. He’s such a sweet and lovely man."
