You’ll Never Guess Who’s Writing The Fifty Shades Of Grey Sequel
No idea how he landed the gig…
‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ may have lost its director and screenwriter after the first movie, but not to worry, because author EL James has already got someone to write the sequel… Her husband.
Oh yes, EL has genuinely enlisted the help of her husband Niall Leonard to take over from Kelly Marcel and write ‘Fifty Shades Darker’, the second part of the kinky trilogy.
Sources have confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that EL’s husband landed the gig after working on the first Fifty Shades script; he just wasn’t credited on it. Sounds legit.
During production of the first film, it became clear that the author clashed with director Sam Taylor-Johnson on how the film was being translated onto the big screen. Sam then announced last month that she wouldn’t be returning for film two.
Since EL seemingly wants more creative control of the movies (and originally wanted to write the sequel’s screenplay herself) we can’t help but think that hiring her own husband is probably the next best thing.
Fancy A Sleepover At Christian Grey's Place?
That’s not to say that EL’s husband isn’t qualified for the job, though. Niall is both an author and screenwriter, having written for a variety of British TV shows and is the author behind the book series ‘Crusher’.
Fifty Shades producer Michael De Luca told THR: "Niall is an outstanding writer in his own right, with multiple established credits, and we are lucky to have him join Team Fifty.”
