FILMCLUB Goes Hopping Mad For Rabbits And Kung Fu
The film charity celebrates Chinese New Year…
This week sees the 2011 Chinese New Year of the Rabbit so to celebrate education charity FILMCLUB has picked a selection of great films for kids - all with a Chinese or rabbit theme - for their Season of the Week.
There’s a fantastic range of films on the list to suit the whole family. The emotionally charged and utterly beautiful 1978 classic Watership Down features a host of furry friends as a group of rabbits who embark on the adventure of a lifetime in search of a new home as their own land comes under threat.
Get some light relief with the recent box office hit Kung Fu Panda, which follows the crazy exploits of comedian Jack Black as a high-kicking hero - and lovable Panda - in this hilarious, animated tale.
Fans of sci-fi will love the fantastic Chinese language film CJ7, about a little boy whose new best friend happens to be from space, and for serious kung fu fanatics, there are three martial arts marvels - Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Iron Monkey and The Forbidden Kingdom - with some of the most spectacularly choreographed moves in cinema history.
For those wishing to watch a film with a more gentle pace, dip into rural Chinese culture with Not One Less, a beautiful tale about a 13-year-old girl who sets out to find a school boy after he goes missing.
Pick a film from Film Club's Season of the Week and celebrate the 2011 Chinese New Year the movie-lovers way!
