Watch Some Pirate Movies!
FILMCLUB present the best swash buckling pirate pictures in their season of the week
Last week, FILMCLUB - the after school charity for young people, was captivated by the story of one very lucky school in the UK who received a personal visit from Johnny Depp, dressed as his Pirates of the Caribbean character Captain Jack Sparrow!
The after-school charity has chosen to celebrate this rather exciting occasion by dedicating this Film Season of the Week to a few buried treasures featuring the very best pirate adventures.
A number of memorable pirate films and performances feature on the list, from a rather sinister Dustin Hoffman in the title role of Steven Spielberg’s 90’s action classic Hook, through to the Muppet adventure Treasure Island which sees the rather less menacing pirate Kermit the Frog take his crew on an adventure which turns into anything but plain sailing.
Other films include action adventure Sinbad: Legend Of the Seven Seas, an animated treat which takes an entertaining spin on the famous Sinbad stories, and some of the best original thigh-slapping hits such as the 1950s The Crimson Pirate and the exciting 1970s Russian version of Treasure Island, which remains the most faithful film to retell this world-renowned story.
All good things come in pieces of eight, and FILMCLUB certainly rates its eight pirate flicks as priceless film gold, so why not embark on a REEL adventure and set sail with FILMCLUB’s season of the week!
