Celebrity Workouts IRL: Ballerina In Training
Just call us Darcey Bussell already.
Ever peered through one of the studios at the gym to laugh at what you assumed would be a Zumba class going on, only to witness some poised looking types doing squats with a ball between their legs?
Well that would be a Barrecore class, and it’s a good thousand times tougher than anything we’ve ever done EVER.
For our first attempt we popped down to Barrecore’s Mayfair studio, where we tried out their signature class…
What exactly does it entail?
Barrecore is based on ballet technique, so think low-impact, full-body workout moves that are guaranteed to give you results.
Between the barre and the mat, you’ll use resistance bands, balls and weights to help mix up the routine, and slowly but surely work through every single muscle… Almost.
The class is set to a soundtrack and focuses on making sure you’ve got the right technique, as well as not over doing it if you’re a newbie (phew)!
Am I going to sweat buckets?
Not buckets, just a graceful glisten.
Is it actually fun?
Yes! There’s a jazzy soundtrack to keep your brain occupied and everything.
Will I be able to walk up the stairs the next day?
Um, you will eventually… But the kind of ache we had was good, because it meant we’d actually worked our muscles!
Why are celebs so obsessed with it?
Well it’s, like, super graceful so celebs don’t have to make themselves look all that silly while doing it. Plus it’s incredibly good for your core strength, which is really quite important for all workouts.
