Hugs For Prince Harry As Foo Fighters Close Invictus Games

Dave Grohl and co. return to London alongside Ellie Goulding, Kaiser Chiefs, James Blunt and more for a fitting end to the inaugural competition...

Foo Fighters raised the spirits of 30,000 revellers at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park last night (September 14)for the Invictus Games Closing Ceremony and got a hug fromPrince Harry in the process.

After playing a series of intimate gigs across the capital this week under the moniker 'The Holy Sh*ts', the band werepersonally introduced by HRH with Dave Grohl later telling the crowd it was "the perfect way to come back."

The hour long set delivered Foo Fighters' greatest hitsincluding The Pretender, Times Like These, Learn To Fly, the even more poignant My Hero and a finale of Best of You and Everlong.

The ceremony also played host toKaiser Chiefs with Ricky Wilson amping up the audience ahead of the Foos with classics likeI Predict A RiotandOh My GodwhileEllie Goulding mesmerised with her hits Burn, Anything Could Happen and more.

James Blunt, The Vamps, Ryan Adams, Rizzle Kicks, The Military Wives,Bryan Adams, Diversity and special guests all took to the stage to close the curtain on the inaugural games which sawmore than 400 injured and sick servicemen and women from 13 nations competing for glory.

Before announcing the Foo Fighters, Prince Harry said of the first ever Invictus Games:"These games have been about seeing guys sprinting for the finish line and then turning round to clap the last man in. These games have shown the very best of the human spirit." He also added a note from his "granny" HRH The Queen who said she was"deeply moved by the courage, determination and talent" of the competitors of the past week.

MTV were lucky enough to be in attendance at the gig and we were blown away by the inspiration, camaraderie, talent and courage of all the competitors and special guests at the ceremony. Here's to next year's games and the many more to follow!
