LA band Foster the People sat down with MTV UK to tell us how excited they are to return to their home state’s super festival Coachella.
The California music and arts extravaganza – taking place this weekend and next at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, Palm Springs – is this year headlined by reunited duo OutKast, stadium rockers Muse and Canadian six-piece Arcade Fire.
With Coachella’s general admission tickets selling out in less than 20 minutes, Foster the People drummer Mark Pontius cannot wait to perform.
“We are super excited for Coachella,” the Pumped Up Kicks sticksman told us. “It’s such a great festival and a nice way to kick-off the touring season. We’ve got a good slot and it’s a good line-up, so we’re pretty stoked.”
Foster the People play the Coachella Stage at 8:20pm on Saturday and frontman Mark Foster hopes his band will be one of the biggest highlights of the two-weekend, three-day festival.
“It’s a fun record to play live,” said Foster about their recently-released second album Supermodel. “After doing a lot of festival slots now, I love the energy of playing in front of 60,000 people. It’s a totally different beast and I’m addicted to the rush. Bring it on, man!”
Other acts performing at the world-famous Coachella include Queens of the Stone Age, Calvin Harris, Pharrell Williams, Skrillex, Ellie Goulding, Beck, Disclosure and Haim.
Breaking Bad superstar Aaron Paul, Spring Breakers babe Vanessa Hudgens and Glee’s Lea Michele are just three of the numerous A-list celebs expected to attend Weekend 1 of Coachella.
