Gerard Way and the My Chemical Romance Facebook page have both posted messages of support after Frank Iero’s involvement in a serious tour van crash.

The former MCR guitarist was on tour with his new band, Frank Iero And The Patience, over in Australia when they were involved in a ‘serious traffic accident’.

According to Australian police reports, Frank and his band were unloading their van when a bus crashed into them, leaving two of the band mates seriously injured.

The official police statement said: “Early investigations suggest the bus was stationary, before continuing forward and hitting the rear of a van that was stationary and in the process of being unloaded by three men.”

It continued: “As a result of the crash two men, aged 35 and 42, who were standing at the rear of the van suffered serious leg injuries. One of the men was airlifted to St Vincent’s hospital; the other was taken by road.”

Breaking his silence on the crash, Frank tweeted saying: ‘Hi friends thanks all for the well wishes. We’re pretty banged up but miraculously alive & in a stable condition. I’m still in a state of shock.”

As well as this, My Chemical Romance frontman and close friend of Frank, Gerard Way, showed his support in a statement on Facebook:

We're sending Frank and his band members our thoughts and wish them a speedy recovery.
