Frank Ocean Just Launched A Mysterious New Live Stream – Is The Album FINALLY Here?
PLEASE DROP THE NEW ALBUM FRANK OCEAN. WE'VE SUFFERED ENOUGH.
We were (sort of) promised something new from Frank Ocean in July, and the ‘Forest Gump’ singer has (kinda) made good on his word or, more precisely, his library slip. A live video stream has just appeared on Ocean’s website. Is the new album set to drop?
Frank Ocean’s follow-up to his all-conquering channel ORANGE has been fervently anticipated for years now. A trickling of various images have been put out over the four years since his debut was released, but now it seems like we're finally going to be blessed with Ocean’s next album.
Earlier last month, Ocean released a library late slip that appeared to suggest something was going to happen in July 2016 and on November 13, 2016. Throughout last month, we waited. Nothing happened. It seemed like Frank had just been teasing us once again.

But, if we go by California time, Ocean did actually start the stream in the final few minutes of July. So he didn’t quite let us all down. After all. if we've waited this long, what's another few days?
A video stream is now live on his website, showing a room full of desks and equipment. There isn’t actually much going on at the moment otherwise, apart from the occasional cough (wow!!!!) and some white noise. As soon as something happens, we’ll update you, so stay tuned to MTV.
Ocean’s most zealous fans uncovered a “hidden” press release on CalvinKlein.com’s JavaScript code that implied that Ocean is also working on a novel and a magazine to go with Boys Don’t Cry, which is likely to be the new album title. The full release reads:
“Frank Ocean is one of the most artistic and enigmatic musicians working today. Though it has been more than four years since he released his debut studio album, channel ORANGE, interest in Ocean hasn’t waned. Instead, it’s increased.
He is known for being a perfectionist, and a pursuant of creativity in all forms. He resists pressure and follows his own vision. He has published a magazine and worked on a novel while continuing to perfect his highly anticipated second album.”
Considering just how sophisticated, beautiful and exciting channel ORANGE was, and the enormous hype surrounding its follow-up, it’ll probably be difficult for Ocean to live up to the hype. But considering his considerable talent – he might just wow us once again. Here’s hoping…
In other Frank Ocean news, the musician published a deeply moving response to the Orlando shootings back in June, which you can read here.
