What You Missed In Music This Week: Frank Ocean Built A Staircase, Lady Gaga Said Several Words About 'Perfect Illusion' & More!
Here are the stories we reckon you should hear about from the week formally knows as 15-19 August 2016!
Illness, a spiral staircase and Pepsi…it’s what will go down in history and forever be remembered as the week of 15-19 August 2016.
From Frank Ocean releasing a gorgeous visual album (with a bizarre final track), to Adele cancelling shows and Lady Gaga talking about “pure ecstasy” – here’s what you may have missed in music news this week...
Frank Ocean Releases His Visual Album, With Another Album Set To Drop This Weekend
It finally came. Well, something finally came. It might not be the proper Boys Don’t Cry album we’ve all been told about (which is, according to Rolling Stone, coming this weekend), but Frank Ocean (a musician) has released some music.
Endless, a visual album (streaming over on Apple Music), pieces together footage and some of the instrumentals seen/heard during Frank Ocean’s live stream as the ‘Forrest Gump’ singer builds [spoiler alert] a spiral staircase.
Yes, the music really is as beautiful as you've heard. But watch out for that final track…
Lady Gaga Described Her New Song ‘Perfect Illusion’ as “pure ecstasy”
Lady Gaga, who is a singer, announced that she will be releasing her new single ‘Perfect Illusion’ in September, which has been produced by MARK RONSON and Tame Impala’s KEVIN PARKER. Big, big names. We’re excited.
Appearing on iheartradio, Gaga said of the upcoming track: "The song is about modern ecstasy . . . .We found our sweet, simple, ragey way of saying it."
"I get this sick adrenaline rush every time I hear it,” she added.
Adele Cancels Show, Apologises Over Instagram And Promises to Reschedule
Adele, who is also a singer, has been forced to cancel a show due to illness.
"Hello everyone, specifically everyone in Phoenix and Arizona. I can't do my show tonight, my second show here," she said in an Instagram video.
"I'm really, really sorry. I've had a cold for a couple days, and I've been pushing through it.
"I did my show last night and I loved it, but I pushed too hard and as you can hear, even if I did the show it wouldn't be very good.
"I'm so sorry to let you down. I know lots of people have been flying in all over. It's the last thing I wanna do but I have to look after myself because I've got so many more shows to do.
"I will reschedule this show, I promise you, and I will come back and I'll smash it for you. I'm really really sorry - have a wonderful evening without me."
Adele then posted on Instagram that the show at Talking Stick Resort Arena, Phoenix AZ, will be rescheduled for Mondau, November 21st 2016.

Adele Says She Turned Down Super Bowl Halftime Show Offer – But NFL And Pepsi Deny Asking Her In The First Place
It’s her again! Earlier this week, Adele claimed to have turned down the Super Bowl Halftime Show.
Speaking to the audience at her gig in LA, Adele said: “First of all, I’m not doing the Super Bowl. I mean, come on, that show is not about music. And I don’t really -- I can’t dance or anything like that. They were very kind, they did ask me, but I said no.”
You see – Adele can’t dance. Therefore she’s very relatable. She’s one of us. Apart from the incredible songs, the record-breaking albums and an award here or there (Adele has won 108 awards) – Adele is one of us!
But PLOT TWIST – the NFL and Pepsi (the sponsors) denied ever inviting her in the first place.
In their statement, the NFL and Pepsi said: "The NFL and Pepsi are big fans of Adele. We have had conversations with several artists about the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show. However, we have not at this point extended a formal offer to Adele or anyone else. We are focused on putting together a fantastic show for Houston and we look forward to revealing that in good time."
Are the NFL and Pepsi just not taking the rejection well? Is Adele talking a load of rubbish? Nobody knows for sure. (Adele, the NFL and Pepsi know for sure.)
