Franz Ferdinand have won this year's Mercury Music Prize.
The Glasgow four piece emerged victorious over the likes of The Streets, The Zutons, Amy Winehouse and Jamelia, to take the prestigious title, and cheque for 20,000, with their self-titled debut album.
Franz Ferdinand were bookmakers favourite in the week leading up to last night's ceremony, but frontman Alex Kapranos said they were still shocked to have won. "We were genuinely shocked," he said.
"There are so many other amazing bands nominated. Its crazy enough being nominated."
