Now, he's back with the his third 'Vs' EP, avolume calling together collaborations with fellow covetedD&B producersDimension, Prolix, Metrik and Ulterior Motive.

Friction's kindly given us the music video for the EP's opener'Kinetic', his slice of D&B heaven produced with Dimension, and after one view we've gone and dug out his 'Fabriclive' mix (have you HEARD that?!) and want to head straight out on the town. And yes we're aware it's a Monday afternoon.

MTV UK:What’s your trick to keeping sane on the road?

Friction: "This is a bit of a basic answer but my iPad has literally made a massive difference - music and films help to pass the time away so well!"

MTV UK:We’re on Vol.3 of your ‘Vs’ series. How do you pick the artists to collab with and how do you keep things fresh?

F: "I just made tracks with friends from the scene and people who I rated. All the collabs have gone really well and we naturally worked together well too."

MTV UK:Which is your favourite track on the EP?

F:"I’ll probably get in trouble with the other guys here but I think 'Curfew' with Ulterior Motive is my fave!"

MTV UK:Who caused the most Friction in the studio? ;)

F:"Me of course!"

MTV UK:It’s always a good day when a new Friction remix emerges. How do you choose a remix? What has to stand out for you from a track?

F:"I actually turn down a lot of remixes because to be honest, I’m not into just taking someone’s money and churning something out. I have to be into the tune and feel I could bring something different to the table."

MTV UK:What/who’s been your proudest signing to date on Shogun Audio?

F:"I could never single out one person, there’s been so many great artists and so many achievements so far."

MTV UK:Which track do you wish you’d signed that you missed out on?

F:"It was before my time but I wish Adam F - ‘Metropolis’ had come out on Shogun!"

MTV UK:Who are you tipping as the next big thing in D&B?

F:"Joe Ford."

MTV UK:We’ve had DJ Fresh and Sigma at No.1 and now Rene LaVice is getting daytime Radio 1 play among others, is dance music the new pop music?

F:"I wouldn't go that far. There’s always been crossover dance music, but it just appears in different forms as the years go on. I’ve never seen a problem with it as long as producers are being true to themselves."

MTV UK:What’s the best thing about dance music at the moment? And Why?

F:"I think the variation in dance music at the moment is excellent. Across all genres, there are strong underground tunes, strong crossover tunes and generally just loads of good music!"

MTV UK:…and what’s the worst (and why)?

F:"DJs that don't actually DJ but are really good with their selfie stick. Cringe."

MTV UK:What’s the most embarrassing song/record in your collection?

F:"Haha, there’s too many to mention!"

MTV UK:What are your guilty pleasures (musically)?

F:"I will now and again be into a really cheesy pop tune. There’s no explanation why, it just happens!"

MTV UK:Tell us about the worst gig you’ve ever played. What happened?

F:"My first ever gig out in Puerto Rico. The first plane turned round with engine problems and had to emergency land in Dublin. Later that afternoon, on the second plane, someone was taken ill and we had to go back to Heathrow after being in the air for 3 hours. We took off again the next day, then connected in New York, then the pilot of that plane messed up the approach to San Juan and took three goes to land the plane. The show was actually wicked but that was definitely the most stressful travel wise!"

MTV UK:…and the best gig?

F:"Reading Festival in 2014 is probably up there. The energy from the crowd was next level."

MTV UK:What does the rest of 2015 have in store for you?

F:"More time in the studio, festivals and my Radio 1 show (with hopefully a holiday somewhere in between!)"

'Friction Vs Vol.3 is released on the 26th April on Shogun Audio.'
