Idina Menzel Picks A Disney Girlfriend For Frozen’s Elsa

Fan momentum has been building for some time now to give Frozen’s Elsa a girlfriend.

The #GiveElsaAGirlfriend Twitter hashtag took flight earlier this year, after @lexi4prez expressed her frustration at Disney’s distinct lack of LGBT+ characters in their movies (and particularly their animations).

And now Idina Menzel, the voice of Elsa herself, has weighed in with her thoughts on Elsa’s prospective dating partners.

In an interview with the always-wonderful Tyler Oakley on his Ellen Digital Network show, Oakley quizzed both Menzel and her co-star Kristen Bell on the theory.

“There’s been speculation on the internet about Elsa potentially being a lesbian. Can you confirm that?”, he asked Bell.

“Whatever Elsa wants to do is up to her and it’s up to us to support her,” Bell rightly replied, before Menzel agreed.

“I cannot confirm or deny. If I tell you, I would have to kill you,” Menzel said, laughing.

And then the most important question of the day - just who WOULD she date, were Elsa single and ready to mingle?”

“Tinkerbell?”, Menzel answered.
