SPOILER ALERT! Game Of Thrones Cast React To Latest Episode Twist

Cast members of the hit series give their take on another shock departure...

SPOILER ALERT: This article contains details of the Game of Thrones episode, The Lion and the Rose, broadcast in the UK last night.

For those who managed to avoid reports about the latest episode of Games of Thrones after it aired in the US, last night's viewing will have come as a shock.

The latest episode of the hit series - The Lion and the Rose - has everyone talking, even the cast members!

The episode saw the arrival of the Purple Wedding, with plenty of drama to follow.

Margaery's appointment as the new Sansa in the nuptials are overshadowed by the scandal of King Joffrey's death.

He meets his comeuppance after being poisoned by a taste of celebratory pie washed down with wine - immediately putting his nominated cupbearer, Tyrion, under suspicion.

As another character bites the dust in GoT, IGN.com decided to ask the actors what they (and their characters) make of Joffrey's departure.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, who plays Jaime Lannister in the series, said people will 'miss' the villain.

When asked what his character would feel about the loss, he said: "Well, he has mixed feelings. He's also pretty... they didn't have much of a relationship, and I think he grieves for his sister. He feels her pain".

Gwendoline Christie said her character, Brienne, is 'horrified' by death.

"Brienne only kills when she has to. She doesn't have a bloodlust", she says.

"I think she has an awareness of the rumours surrounding Jaime and Cersei, so I think therefore she has some degree of awareness of the possible connection and impact that that might have on Jaime."

The actress behind Arya Stark, Maisie Williams, says her character's reaction comes in a following episode - "and it's a very different reaction to what you would expect", she teased.

Aidan Gillen gave little sympathy to Joffrey's death, saying: "I would be satisfied with that".

The actor who plays Littlefinger said: "I think it's nice too - people are now expecting there to be a shocking episode or that a shock is going to come here and there.

"That's what people want", he added.
