You Wot Guv? Danny Dyer Got Knocked Back By Game Of Thrones... Three Times!

EastEnders star reveals his unlikely (and unsuccessful) auditions for HBO drama...

Alright me ol' China, you're not gonna Adam and Eve this but Danny Dyer reckons he's had three auditions for Game Of Thrones - and flunked them all.

Speaking on The Jonathan Ross Show, the mockney geezer revealed that he had failed to make the grade for the hugely successful HBO fantasy drama.

"I've been up for it three times, I got three knockbacks," he confessed.

And his fellow guest, Dame Diana Rigg (aka Lady Olenna Tyrell) quipped in response: "I'll put in a word for you as long as you lose the cockney act!"

But the EastEnders star was defiant and suggested that he could land one of cinema's most iconic roles with his trademark accent.

"I think there's room for a cockney Bond, I think half a lager shaken not stirred… I'd love to have a go on that!"

Rigg advised him to attempt other accents, saying: "Listen, are you limiting your career by being an upfront cockney?"

There was no shaking Dyer though, who already had two more famous roles in his sights.

"I think I could do Sherlock, I think it's a great role. Doctor Who, something like that.

"I don't think it's about accent, I think it's about charisma and I think it's about personality."

Well we reckon Westeros' loss is Walford's gain anyway.
