6 Celebs You Didn't Know Were Voice Actors In Video Games

Did you know that these celebs were behind your fave video game characters too?

While we might be more used to seeing them on the big screen, did you know that many of your favourite TV and movie stars are behind some of your favourite video game characters, too?

As important as it is to have a beautiful game that plays wonderfully, bad voice acting can be crucial to building authentic - and relatable - video game worlds, too. So to celebrate, here's our list of some of the greatest actors who have given their voices to some of gaming's most iconic stars...

Kristen Bell

Yes, we love her in The Good Place and we'll always love her for her voice work as Princess Anna in Frozen, but did you know that Bell's no stranger to video game voice acting, too? As well as giving Anna a voice in the Disney Infinity game - naturally - she's also appearing in the other blockbuster Disney game franchise, Kingdom Hearts. That's not all, though. Go way back in Assassin's Creed history and you'll find she also provided the voice of Lucy Stillman.

Lennie James

While you'll probably know him best as Morgan Jones, one of the earliest characters to have met with Rick Grimes just when the world went to hell in the original The Walking Dead TV Show, James is also Lord Shaxx in Destiny 2. Hopinto the Crucible and you'll find him shouting you on in all kinds of ways - including our favourite "HE HAD A FAMILY, YOU KNOW!" when you take out an opposing Guardian!

Hayden Panettiere

Though she's most known for her parts in Heroes and Nashville, Panettiere is no stranger to video games, having contributed her voice for years, including as Dot in 1998's A Bug's Life game adaption, Kingdom Heart's Kairi, and - most recently - providing the motion-capture and voice - as well as her physical appearance! - to Sam in the chilling horror slasher, Until Dawn.

Keifer Sutherland

I know what you're thinking - he just played Jack Bauer in the video game version of 24, right?! Well, it's true - he did! - but did you know that he also took over as the iconic Snake in Metal Gear Sold V: The Phantom Pain, too? That's right; though he's been portrayed for years by screenwriter, actor, and voice actor, David Hayter, Snake's husky tone was most recently adopted by Keifer Sutherland.

Mark Hamill

Nah, we're not just talking about Star Wars games (although we have to admit - there are a lot of them!) - Hamill gave the performance of a lifetime as non-other than Batman's greatest antagonist, The Joker. After portraying the ultimate villain in the Batman animated series waaaay back in the 1990s, he also reprised the role in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Batman: Arkham Knight.

Elijah Wood

While Wood has temporarily hung up his voice acting pants to set up his own company, SpectreVisions, which teamed up with Ubisoft to make spooky escape-room game Interference, did you know that he also gave his voice to Spyro the Dragon in the Legend of Spyro trilogy? Yes, really!
