These are the women in games we just can’t wait to kick butt with. REPRESENT.
We are BUTT DEEP in the new console generation now. And you know what that means? There are LOADS of fun new games coming your way very soon.
We got to play all the most exciting new titles that'll be coming out soon at Gamescom 2015, Europe's biggest games show.
And as it turns out there are some awesome female characters on their way to your console. In a format where that’s previously been kind of rare, that's REALLY FREAKING EXCITING!
So, here are our picks of the characters we just can’t wait to kick ass with when they come out. REPRESENT.
1.Aloy, Horizon: Zero Dawn
This woman kicked ass at E3 when Horizon was unveiled in June and now at Gamescom, players got to see the breath-taking demo up close. Aloy is a hunter in the post-apocalyptic future world of this action RPG. And she hunts ROBOT DINOSAURS.
MOST ASS-KICKING MOMENT: Taking down a giant metal T-Rex with nothing but a bow and arrow. DAYUM GIRL those are some serious archery skills.

2. The Shield Maiden, EITR
This hack and slash indie RPG will let you explore badass Norse mythology in retro pixel art stylings.. But don’t let the design fool you – this skill-based RPG is more Dark Souls than Dig Dug. Like, it's really god damned hard.
You control the badass lead Shield Maiden on her quest, a chatacter who can't actually die - both a gift and a curse, according to her creators at London-based studio Eneme Entertainment. Though she's as yet unnamed, she is actually inspired by fellow badass character Lagertha from the TV show Vikings, its developers reveal to us. They're big fans.
MOST ASS-KICKING MOMENT: Single-handedly taking down hoardes of killer monsters and Norse gods without breaking a pixel.

3. Lara Croft, Rise Of The Tomb Raider
Gamescom brought us some exclusive new gameplay of Lara Croft in Rise of the Tomb Raider, and we can confirm that this thing is looking A-MAZING.
In this follow up to 2013's reboot, Tomb Raider, Lara will be actually be exploring some tombs this time around – a welcome throwback to her original badassery.
Despite the throwback, today’s Lara has come a long way from locking the butler in the freezer in Tomb Raider 2. A full-on Uncharted-style action adventure, players will be able to beat the game in various ways - be it by steaming in and annihilating all enemies, or by stealth and misdirection, it also has the largest base camp they’ve ever built. Which means you’ll spend ages hunting, completing challenges and customising your Croft for your epic adventure together.

If you like your Tomb Raider more traditional, then you’re going to love this new spin on our favourite archeology badass. Like puzzler Hitman Go, this mobile game will present you with tomb puzzles to navigate your way out of which promises to be EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE.
This cartoon-style Lara Croft is about to take over your phone... and every commute.
