These are the women in games we just can’t wait to kick butt with. REPRESENT.

We are BUTT DEEP in the new console generation now. And you know what that means? There are LOADS of funnew games coming your way very soon.

We got to play all the most exciting new titles that'll be coming out soonat Gamescom 2015, Europe'sbiggest games show.

And as it turns outthere are some awesome female characters on their way to your console. In a format where that’s previously been kind of rare, that's REALLY FREAKING EXCITING!

So, here are our picks of the characterswe just can’t wait to kick asswith when they come out. REPRESENT.

1.Aloy, 'Horizon: Zero Dawn'

This woman kicked ass at E3 when Horizon was unveiled in June and now at Gamescom, players got to see the breath-taking demo up close. Aloy is a hunter in the post-apocalyptic future world of this action RPG. And she hunts ROBOT DINOSAURS.

MOST ASS-KICKING MOMENT: Taking down a giant metal T-Rex with nothing but a bow and arrow. DAYUM GIRL thosearesomeserious archery skills.

2. The Shield Maiden,'EITR'

Thishack and slashindie RPG will let you explore badass Norse mythology inretropixel art stylings.. But don’t let the design fool you – this skill-based RPG is more 'Dark Souls' than 'Dig Dug'. Like, it'sreally god damned hard.

You control the badass leadShield Maiden on her quest, a chatacter who can't actually die - both a gift and a curse, according toher creators at London-based studioEneme Entertainment. Though she's as yet unnamed, she isactuallyinspired by fellow badasscharacter Lagertha from the TV show 'Vikings', its developers reveal to us. They're big fans.

3. Lara Croft,'Rise Of The Tomb Raider'

Gamescom brought us some exclusive new gameplay of Lara Croft in 'Rise of the Tomb Raider', and we can confirm that this thing islooking A-MAZING.

In this follow up to 2013's reboot, 'Tomb Raider', Lara will be actually be exploring some tombs this time around– a welcomethrowback to her original badassery.

Despite the throwback, today’s Lara has come a long way fromlocking the butler in the freezer in'Tomb Raider 2'. A full-on 'Uncharted'-styleaction adventure, players will be able tobeat the game in various ways - be it by steaming in and annihilating all enemies, or by stealth and misdirection, it also has the largest base camp they’ve ever built. Which means you’ll spend ages hunting, completing challenges and customising your Croft for your epic adventure together.

4. Lara Croft, 'Lara CroftGo'

If you like your 'Tomb Raider 'more traditional, then you’re going to love this new spinon our favourite archeology badass. Likepuzzler 'Hitman Go', this mobile game will present you with tomb puzzles to navigate your way out of which promises to be EXTREMELY ADDICTIVE.

This cartoon-styleLara Croft is about to take over your phone... and every commute.

5. Chell,'LEGO Dimensions'

'LEGO Dimensions' throws some of our favourite characters from totally different fictional universes into one crazy LEGO adventure together: we’re talking LEGO Bill Murray from Ghostbusters on an adventure with LEGO Batman while LEGO Doctor Who flies the Tardis around the Yellow Brick road from 'The Wizard of Oz'. One world that also collides with the madcap adventure? Portal.

MOST ASS-KICKING MOMENT: Zapping portals to throw Gandalf into because Chell is a problem-solving badass.

6. Chun-Li,'Street Fighter V'

The fifth Street Fighter game's new 'V Move' feature means that you can now power up any character to an elevated V mode and take out your opponent with a specialV move. It's all V badass.

7. Faith Connors, 'Mirror's Edge: Catalyst'

Free running hero Faith Connors is back and for the sequel to the hugely popular' Mirrors Edge' we’re going to learn even more about her story. We got a first look at her running through the metropolis skyline at night and covertly breaking into a skyscraper building at super speed.

MOST ASS-KICKING MOMENT: Running up a glass building to break into a shady corporation's HQ… this time around, completely without weapons and using only your BARE HANDS for combat.

8. Steph Houghton,' FIFA 16'

For the first time ever, women’s national teams are in the beautiful game. About damn time!
