Minecraft Is About To Burn Down London, Again

The Great Fire of London is about to be re-lived...

The Great Fire of London that happened way back in 1666 is about to be relived through the world of Minecraft and you can be there to experience it.

As an exercise in historical recreation the guys over at the Museum of London have taken on a Minecraft staging of the Great Fire of London. The whole thing will happen in three phases:

The first of which is creating the map of London as accurately as possible to make it the way it was back when the Great Fire started in a baker’s oven on Pudding Lane. That includes St Paul’s Cathedral, a very different London Bridge and of course that bakery. You can download that mapright now.

The next stage is where the real action comes - the fire. On Friday 2 September London is due to burn down.

The bakery will be set alight and then the fire will take its course consuming ye olde London. It looks like you might be able to help fight that fire with water and even explosives but presumably the end result will always be the same.

The final stage isn’t due until February 2017, but should be worth the wait. This is when you’ll get the chance to rebuild London using actual architectural plans from the time.

The Great Fire of London maps are free to download now but are currently for PC only.

If you want to see what the fire is going to be like, then SPOILER ALERT:thevideo abovewill show you in pretty great detail.
