Galaxy Chart Show - Reader Review!
Last week you enjoyed tix to the LCD Sound- system gigs and heres a quick review from a lucky winner who went to the London event...
Theyre back - after way too long away and we managed to win tix to catch the return of one of the best live acts around.
Using the show as an opportunity to introduce some of the tracks from the new album Sound of Silver, and as a warm-up to their UK tour James Murphy and co played an initmate set of their disco tinged, funked up, rock fueled sound.
With Al from Hot Chip offering his services on guitar and bass, the new tracks sounded amazing over Cargos new soundsystem, and even hinted at elements of a prog. rock flavour to the new album ! New single N.A. Scum showed that most of the crowd had already heard it, accompanying James Murphys trademark deadpan delivery.
Other new tracks such as Time to get away, Throw, and Watch the tapes showed a band who are constantly experimenting with new elements for their sound rather than just resting on past glories of the first album.
Old favourites such as Daft Punk..., Tribulations and the epic crescendo of Yeah were mixed into the set, ahead of a Sinatraesque finale of NY I Love you. Part tribute, part critique, it proved a poignant, downbeat end to procedings. Frank wouldve been proud.
Safe to say, we were blown away at the gig, and wouldnt want you to miss out so enter this weeks competition for another memorable night out with MTV Dance!!
