*** The Oasis camp have denied tabloid reports that Liam Gallagher is forming a band with Dhani Harrison - son of late Beatles legend George Harrison and ex Stone Roses guitarist John Squire. "Liam is already in a supergroup called Oasis," reads a statement issued today, "and far from taking a break, he's busy and recording and mixing the next Oasis album, due for release later this year."
*** Guns N' Roses' 'Sweet Child O' Mine' has the greatest guitar riff of all time, according to a magazine poll. The famous intro, as played by living rock legend Slash, came top in Total Magazine's reader-voted top 100 poll. Nirvana's 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'is at two, while Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' rocks in at five.
*** Prodigy's new album ' Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned' will be released in August, say reports. "It sounds sinister, electronic, trashy, sexy and fresh to my ears," said Liam Howlett. "This album is about reminding people what the Prodigy was always about - the beats and the music." Keith Flint and Maxim do not appear on the record, but will join Howlett to perform it live this summer, apparently.
*** Simon and Garfunkel are said to be in negotiations with the Royal Parks and gig promoters about a massive gig in London's Hyde Park, possibly on July 17. Should the gig go ahead, it would mark the duo's first appearance together in Britain for 22 years, and organisers believe it would attract the biggest crowd in the park since 250,000 flocked to see Rolling Stones in 1969.
*** Rachel Stevens' next release will be the official Sports Relief single. 'Some Girls' will apparently go on sale on July 12. The video will be directed by Comic Relief creator and 'Love Actually' director Richard Curtis. Sports Relief was created by Comic Relief and BBC Sport, with the aim of raising money for charity through sport and sports stars.
