*** U2 have recorded a cover version for Kraftwerk's 'Neon Lights'. The song was originally released in 1978 on the German electro pioneers' 'The Man Machine' album. U2's cover will be featured as a B-side on their new single, 'Vertigo', which is due for release on November 8. The bands' 11th album will follow later in the month.
*** OutRage! is demanding that the BBC drop coverage of this years' MOBO Awards. The gay rights group has accused Elephant Man and Vybz Kartel of homophobic lyrics, and therefore takes offence at the two being nominated. "Singers who advocate the murder of minority groups should be shunned, not rewarded with prime-time exposure," said OutRage's spokesman. The awards will be held on September 30.
*** Morrissey has announced his biggest ever London gig. The special concert will take place on December 18 at London's Earl's Court. Other Morrissey UK tour dates, in support of his recent album 'You Are The Quarry', call at Newcastle City Hall (December 7), Liverpool Royal Court (9) and Preston Guildhall (10).
*** Jack White has denied persistent rumors that the White Stripes are splitting up. White, half the Detroit rock duo, says him and Meg Stripes intend to record a follow up album to 'Elephant' and have already started writing the new songs. "I don't think we're going to last ten years", said Jack, "at some point we will stop. But we've no plans to now at all". The two are hoping to be back in the studio by next month.
*** Embrace's fans can now download tracks from the band's new album. Songs from 'Out Of Nothing', Embrace's forth album, will be available on the net throughout the week, with the band donating ten pence from every 1 spent to charity. 60-second excerpts from all tracks can be heard for free on the band's official website. 'Out of Nothing' is officially released on September 13.
