*** Madonna has signed on to play silent movie star Texas Guinan in Martin Scorsese's big-screen musical 'Hello Sucker!' The movie will tell the life story of the 1920s cowgirl who appeared in Hollywood westerns and flouted Prohibition laws. In other Madonna news, her third children's book, Yakov and the Seven Thieves, is due out later this month.
*** The trial date for Rosa Parks' lawsuit against OutKast has been set for January 10. The 91-year-old civil-rights campaigner claimed the group violated her trademark rights and defamed her when they named a song from their 1998 album, 'Aquemini', after her. Parks' star-studded witness list includes Hillary Clinton and Oprah Winfrey.
*** After Jennifer Lopez's speedy nuptials to Marc Anthony, rumours are rife that the 33-year-old bride is pregnant. Janice Min, Editor-in-Chief of US Weekly magazine, said: "There have been rumours about a baby on the way. Jennifer has made no secret that she'd love to have children. She's very family oriented, she loves her nieces, family is important to her and we know that Marc Anthony loves children too."
*** P Diddy has been chosen as one of 120 residents who will run with the Olympic torch in New York. "Words cannot express how proud I am to be carrying the Olympic torch for my home, New York, New York - the greatest city in the world," Diddy said. The torch was lit in Athens and will travel around the world and back to Athens before the start of the Games on August 13.
*** Primal Scream have announced details of a one-off gig at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on August 19. Bobby Gillespie and co. are also due to perform at the Eden Project on August 6 and the V Festival in Chelmsford and Staffordshire, on August 21and 22.
*** A Californian wine company is releasing a range of Elvis Presley tipples, including Blue Suede Chardonnay, King Cabernet Sauvignon and Jailhouse Red Merlot. The CEO of Signature Wines, Scott Cahill said they created the Graceland Cellars line "to honour the king of rock 'n' roll". "Our wineries have worked hard to put the same care into our wines that Elvis put into his music. We think fans of wine and Elvis will agree," Cahill said.
