*** Usher and Outkast are the big winners of the 2004 World Music Awards, winning three gongs each. Besides World's Best Male Artist, Usher also won Best Pop Male Artist and Best R 'n' B Artist. Outkast took home the award for the World's Best Group, Best Pop Group and Best Rap/ Hip Hop Artist. Norah Jones was only closely behind, winning two awards.
*** Johnny Ramone, lead guitarist in punk band The Ramones, has died in his sleep from prostate cancer. He passed away at his Los Angeles home at the age of 55, surrounded by friends and family. Ramone, whose real name was John Cummings, had been battling prostate cancer for five years.
*** Mike Skinner, aka The Streets, is being lined up to star in a new film that celebrates chav culture. Others tipped to appear in 'Chav: The Movie' are singer Jentina, rapper Dizzee Rascal and actor Ralf Little. An insider told the tabloids: "Mike was the first person thought of for the role. This movie will be talked about for years".
*** Franz Ferdinand have secured four nominations for this years Q Awards - more than any other artists. The recent Mercury Music Prize winners are up for Best New Act, Best Video, Best Single and Best Album. Muse, Scissor Sisters and The Streets all have three nominations each. The Q Awards take place in London on October 4.
*** Avril Lavigne and Sum 41 frontman Deryck Whibley are not engaged, according to new reports. Sum 41's management has denied yesterdays rumours by stating: "Deryck Whibley of Sum 41 is not engaged. The recent 'breaking news' that has been misconstrued around the world exemplifies the media's constant invasion of people's personal lives".
*** Alicia Keys and Lenny Kravitz are rumoured to be dating. The two were reportedly spotted dinning together at a top New York restaurant. Kravitz, who has previously been romantically linked to Nicole Kidman, Naomi Campbell, Vanessa Paradis and ex wife Lisa Bonet was recently voted Hollywood's biggest heartbreaker.
