*** Glastonbury 2004 may not have even kicked off yet, but that hasn't stopped Michael Eavis from thinking about 2005. "I'd like to get U2 headlining for next year and I'll be making a phone call to them," Eavis says. "I might also try Prince again. We approached him for this year and he seemed interested but in the end he couldn't make it."
*** In other Glastonbury news, Liam and Noel Gallagher have reportedly insisted on a drugs-free zone backstage when they play the festival this week. "They have done the whole bad-boy rock thing and now they are respectable adults with children", a source close to festival organisers said.
*** Avril Lavigne has added two more dates to her upcoming UK tour. She will play a second concert at Wembley Arena on October 11 and a new date at Sheffield Hallam FM Arena on October 12.
*** One of the summer's biggest festivals, Lollapalooza, has been cancelled, just three weeks before it was due to kick off. Organisers said the 31-date, 16-city tour was pulled due to poor ticket sales. This year's bill was set to feature Morrissey, PJ Harvey, Sonic Youth and Flaming Lips.
*** Badly Drawn Boy's pub tour continues, and has Damon Gough appearing at the Spread Eagle on Kingsland Rd in London tonight, at Brighton's Lion & Lobster on Sillwood St tomorrow and at Bristol's Alma Tavern on Alma Vale Road on Thursday. On Friday he plays the Other Stage at Glastonbury.
*** Christina Aguilera is coining it in for a couple of hours' work next week " she is due to open the Harrods sale for a fee of 200,000. A source close to the singer reportedly said her duties will include "cutting the ribbon, making a welcome speech and attending a VIP breakfast with Harrods executives".
*** Britney Spears had to be calmed down by a paramedic after the car she was in struck a photographer in California. Spears was said to have been "panic-stricken" after the accident, and sat in the car screaming and crying at her mother Lynne who had been driving.
