*** Beyonce has signed a 250,000 deal to become the new face of Tommy Hillfiger perfume. Ms Knowles, also starring in the new Pepsi ad, is said to be writing a song to appear in the TV ads for the fragrance. "Beyonc has beauty, style, intelligence and such a warm personality," said a Hillfiger spokesperson. "She is the perfect person for this project."
*** Some of the most lauded screenwriters from the past forty years of film will take part in a series of debates in London over the coming weeks. The likes of Paul Schrader ('Taxi Driver', 'Raging Bull') and Carrie Fisher ('Postcards from the Edge') will feature in the Orange Word screenwriters programme at the The British Library. *** Mogwai have increased their popularity in Croatia after calling the England football team "bastards". During the band's gig in Zagreb, band member Barry Burns alluded to the forthcoming England /Croatia Euro 2004 qualifier clash. "I'd love Croatia to beat England," he said. "Please destroy those bastards."
*** Jamelia has revealed that she was a victim of domestic violence. The multi-BRIT nominated vocalist said that a previous boyfriend used to beat her up. "I'm thankful to him for putting me in that situation," said Jamelia, "because now I'm stronger and I'd never be in that situation again."
*** Outkast's Big Boi has found success with his sideline business - dog breeding. The rapper and his brothers have apparently delivered a rare breed of blue pit bull. "We were one of the first breeders to have a blue dog," said Big Boi's brother James. "It really took off for us. We got some big buyers, like Roy Jones Jr. and Serena Williams".
*** Billy Corgan has talked about his forthcoming solo album. "I am excited to work on this music, because for the first time in my life it will be my tunes with no compromises to anyone or anything," said the former Smashing Pumpkins and Zwan frontman. "It's gonna be loud and beautiful and poetic and dumb. Just the way I like it."
*** Blue's Simon Webbe is to make his big-screen debut in an action film about motorbikes, according to tabloid reports. Apparently, the boy-band star will begin shooting the flick in March, and may find himself acting opposite R&B vocalist Ashanti.
