*** A major clean-up operation has started as music fans head home from the Glastonbury Festival. The weekend presented few problems: despite the death of one man from a suspected drug overdose, police said there had been a reduction in crime of 40% compared with last year's event.
*** Oasis headlined the Pyramid Stage on Friday night, dedicating 'Stop Crying Your Heart Out' to the England football team. Opening the set with 'Rock 'n' Roll Star', Liam Gallagher simply shouted to the crowd, "Glastonbury".
*** Paul McCartney paid a moving tribute to old bandmates John Lennon and George Harrison during his headlining set at Glastonbury on Saturday night. In reference to Lennon, an emotional McCartney said sometimes people don't take the opportunity to say their real feelings before someone passes away. McCartney then played his Lennon-inspired solo song, 'Here Today', before covering George Harrison's 'All Things Must Pass'.
*** The festival was brought to a triumphant close by Muse on Sunday night. Singer Mat Bellamy was quiet during most of the gig, but before launching into their final song, he declared "this has been the best gig of our lives".
*** Newspapers are claiming that Kylie Minogue is to try her hand at film producing with Australian film 'Clancy of the Overthrow'. Russell Crowe and Hugh Jackman are both reportedly vying for the lead role, but it is not clear if Kylie herself will take an acting role in the film.
*** Three of the four members of Jane's Addiction, who announced they had split up last week, have formed a new group. Only singer Perry Farrell is missing from the line-up of the unnamed new group, which includes guitarist and MTV bridegroom Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins and bassist Chris Chaney. Reports claim they are already in the recording studio, working with Black Grape producer Danny Saber.
*** DMX faces up to seven years in jail after being charged with cocaine possession and criminal impersonation for trying to steal a car then crashing another vehicle through an airport car park gate, claiming he was a federal agent. The rap star and another man were arrested on Thursday (June 24) at New York's JFK Airport.
