Show & Tell
MTV Towers celebrated the creative talents of UK youth by unveiling the winners of the 'Show Us What Your Made Of' competition with the help of Bashy and Chipmunk.
In partnership with the Home Offices 'It Doesnt Have to Happen' anti-knife campaign " MTV challenged young people to have their own say. The competition received over 500 entries by young people who found ways to spread the message of anti-violence be it film, music, art, photography or dance.
Winners received £1000 of equipment each, were handed their awards by top UK MC Chipmunk who went on to perform as did fellow rapper Bashy.
The winners were: Akash Lockmun, Nilesh Bell-Gorsia, Tanisjah Matthews, Jamie Fisher and Femi Iloyi.
Chipmunk told MTV News why the project is so important I feel like, especially around young black youth theres a very stereotypical image thats being portrayed, a lot of us have got talents but the opportunities werent given. If you give the youth opportunities and the facilities, theyll excel.
Bashy explained that efforts need to continue in order to combat Knife Crime we need to attack all levels of violence towards other people, people brandishing all types of weapons. All the campaigns need to come together, we all need to work together for this to work.
