Sony Ericsson: The Search!

We look for the worlds best camera phone photographer!

Sony Ericsson, this week opened the competition The Search to discover the UK's best camera phone photographer. Prizes include a round the world trip for two people as well as Sony Ericsson Cyber-Shot K810i and entry into the global cameraphone competition 'World View'.

The Sony Ericsson research also shows that one in 20 (6 per cent) have taken a picture of a major news event over the last year. And a further one in 20 say they now use their mobile phone for picture-taking more than calls.

The shocking image of the crumbling Twin Towers on September 11, 2001 has been named the most impactful international news picture over the past 30 years " even more so than Princess Dianas tragic car crash and the historic toppling of Saddam Husseins statue.

The poll also reveals the most impactful sports moments of the past three decades, with Ellen Macarthurs round the world voyage and David Beckhams sending off against France in 1998 clinching pole position both 21%!

Fallen footie hero Gazzas World Cup tears in 1990 came second (15%), followed by Mike Tysons shocking biting of Holyfields ear (10%) and Paula Radcliffes dramatic drop out of the 2004 Olympic marathon (10%).

Launching today, The Search for the UKs Cameraphone Photographer of the Year from Sony Ericsson is set to get the nation snapping. Britons are being invited to submit adventure, fashion, news and sport images taken on their mobile phone for their chance to win prizes including a round the world trip for two people to five countries of their choice, Sony Ericsson Cyber-shot K810i cameraphones as well as entry into the global cameraphone competition World View.
