Super Mario is back!
We talk to the voice of Mario at the release of 'Super Mario Galaxy'...
Nintendo teamed up with GAME to hail the launch of the new video game Super Mario Galaxy by allowing fans to get their hands on a copy of the title 24 hours before its release.
With the offer to get the game early, sweetened even further by 20 copies of the game and 1 Wii being up for grabs to the best dressed Mario character, fans turned out en masse, and we headed down to Oxford Street to meet some of them and to sit down with Mario himself, Charles Martinet.
The Voice of Mario for the last 17 years said Its quite a profound honour to see people come out like this when looking at the legions of dressed up gamers queuing outside.
Charles was kitted out with his own make-shift front room - with sofa, widescreen TV and copy of Super Mario Galaxy and when we asked about the new game he said Its absolutely spectacular. This is the greatest game ever.
The use of the unique Wii control system certainly does seem to add something to the Mario experience: Mario 64 kind of revolutionised gaming, taking things from 2D to 3D [Super Mario Galaxy] is like another revolution its another huge step,
Charles confirmed that There will be a Super Mario Kart which Im excited about and There are some Wario games in the works.
He also gave us insight into why he thought Nintendo have fared so well against more powerful rival consoles For Nintendo its always about the gamer its always about the game, its always about having fun.
We cant wait to get our hands on a copy of the game and experience Super Mario Galaxy first hand; it has already been heralded as the best looking game available on the Wii and another enthralling edition to the Super Mario franchise.
