Tommy Hilfiger Exclusive

The designer was in London to launch a new TV channel...

With the likes of Diddy and Lily making the move from music to fashion, Tommy Hilfiger is trying to prove the same can work in reverse.

The designer flew into London this week for the global launch of Tommy TV " an online initiative that will help new, unsigned bands gain exposure by taking part in his 'Hilfiger Sessions. The acts will end up on the same bill as established artists like Wyclef and Kelly Rowland.

Speaking to MTV News, Mr H told us more about the project: "It's the first time a fashion company and music company (Sony BMG) have ever combined in a partnership to do anything like this". Adding: "It's also a global 24/7 network. It is going to reach all sorts of different young people who may never otherwise have the opportunity to have a record company or have a platform to display their work.

Famed for dressing artists from Aaliyah to Beyonce, we asked Tommy who his musical fashion idols were growing up: "I liked Jimmy Hendrix, Jimmy Morrison of the doors, have always loved the look of the stones, the Beatles".

So will we get to see the man himself perform at one of his Hilfiger Sessions?: "You dont want to hear me play! I took the fashion route instead of the music route. I can enjoy music, but cant play music!"
