General Election: 11 Things We Learned Thanks To Educating Joey Essex
Joey’s made politics well reem…
After months of campaigning, the big election is taking place tomorrow (May 7) and it’s set to be a very close race. So what better way to swot up on all your last minute political information than with Joey Essex, who dove into the election madness for his show ‘Educating Joey Essex: General Election, What Are You Sayin?!’
From his hilarious mispronunciations of pretty much every single political word ever created, to his proposal of free holidays for everyone, here’s what we learned from Essex’s most confused resident…
1. Ed Miliband and Justin Bieber are basically the same person
After seeing the Labour leader greeting some supporters, Joey understood exactly how the #Milifandom came about: “It was like Justin Bieber [was] walking into the room.”
2. Everyone should get a free holiday to Marbella
“The government should give away free holidays to Marbs. £150 there and back? The Government can afford that.” We personally think this is a great idea.
3. SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon has a celebrity doppelganger
“Is that Judy Murray?” Incredible.
4. Online voting gets the Joey Essex seal of approval
“It’d be so much easier if you could [vote] on Twitter,” Joey explained. But while Twitter might be a bit TOO hip for now, online voting would certainly be an interesting move and would definitely get more young people engaged when it comes to elections.
5. Joey literally can’t pronounce any political words
Joey Essex thought it was "Liberal demoCATS" and "nick LEG" I'm dead

‘Librical Democats’ was our personal favourite, along with Joey asking Nick Leg (what Joey called Liberal Democrat leader Nick Clegg), "Why are there cats in it?"
6. David Cameron is apparently the King
Not quite true, but at least Joey knows he's the one currently in power (just not of the monarchy).
7. And FYI, parliament isn’t a person
Joey Essex thought parliament was a person naaa

Nor is it a building along the Mall.
8. A coalition doesn’t make much sense to Joey
“What do you wanna draw for, you wanna win, innit?” A very fair point.
9. Politics doesn’t have to be boring
Joey described doing the show as, “The most sickest experience I’ve ever had in my life”.
10. Politics DOES affect everybody
“Politics affects poor people, it affects rich people, it affects Essex. Politics is everywhere; it’s in the air.”
11. Joey Essex reckons if you don’t vote, you’re a mug
As he says, “If you don’t vote, you can’t moan.” So make sure you get down to your polling station and vote May 7, because then you’ll be like, well reem, in the words of ol’ Joey.
