George Michael Documentary Premieres In London

Reclusive singer steps into spotlight to promote candid new film of his life...

George Michael made a rare public appearance at last night's premiere of A Different Story, a documentary charting his life and career.
Accompanied by partner Kenny Goss, George posed for photographers and chatted to journalists at the London screening. "If you're a fan, this film completes the picture, which is only a half-painted picture because I do so little promotion," he said.
The film examines the singer's childhood, career and personal life, and features candid interviews about some of his personal tragedies, including the death of his lover Anselmo Feleppa. "Anyone who's experienced having somebody they love, whether it be a member of the family or a loved one who has a terminal illness " which HIV was still considered in 1991 " anyone who's lived through that knows that it's a terrifying, terrifying thing," he said.
In the film he also relives the death of his mother in 1997, which he described as "an emotional experience". "But I think it's been very cathartic actually," he added. "I've been able to put some of the hard times in a box and put them behind me."
The singer went on to quash rumours of a Wham! reunion, saying that the closest he and Andrew Ridgeley get is playing their old records together.
George Michael: A Different Story hits selected big screens in the UK on December 9.
