George Michael Struck With New Lung Condition?
The Wham! star is also apparently using a £100k bed to fight pneumonia...
George Michaelhas allegedly been hit with a new lung condition while [uuid=8a133e30-a132-4c31-a3d6-0f616823c757]Wham!legend has declined to comment on the new reports, with Vienna's AKH hospital stating on Friday that the pneumonia had stabilised.
The hospital has now added: "As requested by the patient, there will be no further statements or updates.”
According to The Sun, the Faith hitmaker's life is being saved by a £100,000 bed made for critically-ill lung patients, with doctor Carol Cooper telling the newspaper: "The bed has probably saved his life so far. But he is far from out of the woods yet."
George has apparently been strapped in the bed - which constantly tilts from side-to-side up to 40 degrees to relieve pressure on his lungs.
Dr. Cooper explained: "These beds are lifesavers and exceptionally expensive, even to use. With the lungs not functioning well, the heart has to pump harder to shift the blood around the body, which would make it harder to survive."
"This bed tries to get the lungs functioning as best they can. The movement helps shift secretions inside the lung to make sure they don't collect and make you worse. But if he is still being cared for like this, he is very seriously ill."
She added: "He is in a critical condition, which means he could die. We still don't know why pneumonia affects some people more than others. But if you are middle-aged, and maybe with other problems such as with your immune system, your outlook is not so good."
Michael, who was hospitalised last week, has been forced to scrap the rest of his European tour - including all 14 British dates.
