Get To Know: Alma
This week's featured artist is an exciting singer songwriter from Finland.
Alma-Sofia Miettinen, known as Alma to the rest of the world, has been making her way into our ears through tracks such as 'Dye My Hair' and her new single 'Chasing Highs'.
We were lucky enough to catch up with the 21-year-old to find out a little bit more about her.

1. For those who don’t know about you and your music, tell us a little bit about who you are and where you’re from…
I'm Alma, 21 from Finland. Singer, songwriter and party girl.
2. Describe your sound in three words…
Urban, soulful, radiant.
3. Who inspired you to start a career in music?
Amy Winehouse, Sia.
4. Who are your biggest musical influences?
Not anyone specific. Everything from old soul music to contemporary pop.
5. Tell us about the writing and recording process for your new single/album...
The up-coming single was made very quickly when I started to do sessions in Berlin. We did it during the first two weeks I spent there with German producers Hit Impulse and Pascal Reinhardt. It happened pretty organically because there was no pressure on us. That’s always the best way to write music. It needs to be free.
6. What can we expect from your live shows?
Moshpits, good energy and a lot of love on stage as I share it with my twin sister as well as the band. Hopefully overall just a killer show. I consider myself as much of a performing artist as a recording artist, both are equally important.
7. What has been your biggest career highlight so far?
Flow Festival 2016, the news that Elton John is a fan (!!!) and the support I get from BBC Radio 1, Mistajam is the man.
8. Have you met anyone and been totally starstruck?
All the time, Zara Larsson, Charlie XCX, MØ, but I try to play it cool every time, haha!
9. What’s on your iPod/playlists that people wouldn’t expect?
Nothing too shocking really. I have one main playlist called ‘Alma's favourites’ where you’ll find everything from Missy Elliot to Justin Bieber, a real mix.
10. When can we see you live?
I'm about to announce a big tour! Pick a town and come see me!
