Bridesmaids Director 'Planning Female Ghostbusters'
Paul Feig has reportedly emerged as a surprise contender to helm long-awaited threequel...
The director of hit comedy Bridesmaids is reportedly in the running to take charge of Ghostbusters 3 - with a female cast.
The Hollywood Reporter claims that Paul Feig is in discussions with Sony Pictures on the possibility of gender-swapped threequel - and reckons he is the studio's first choice.
Ivan Reitman - who directed the first two Ghostbusters movies back in the 1980s - was originally slated to direct number three as well.
But he departed the project in March, following the death of Harold Ramis.
The threequel was understood to see the original Ghostbusters handing over the baton to a new team - although the script has apparently been re-written since Ramis' death and only Dan Ackroyd is firmly in the "yes" camp.
