Channing Tatum For Male Ghostbusters Movie After All?

Sony reportedly hatching plot for another reboot to run alongside all-female film...

When news leaked last December that Channing Tatum was super-keen to star in a rebooted Ghostbusters movie, we had a feeling that the idea would be too mouth-watering for Sony to ignore.

And it looks like the movie studio has absolutely taken the bait, setting up hot directors Joe and Anthony Russo, of Captain America: The Winter Soldier fame, to helm the project.

Deadline, which broke the story, claims that Sony sees the movie as a "counterpart" to the Paul Feig-directed all-female Ghostbusters which is already in the pipeline.

Drew Pearce - who wrote Iron Man 3 and Mission: Impossible 5 - is on script duties while Tatum's company is producing.

And Chan the man may play one of the male Ghostbusters - a prospect that he was VERY excited about in those leaked Sony emails.

There's no mention of whether Chris Pratt has been roped in too, as Tatum had suggested.

The movie is apparently part of a wide-ranging "branding" exercise Sony plans for the franchise - with original director Ivan Reitman and star Dan Aykroyd among those in control of a new "Ghostcorps" production company.

"We want to expand the Ghostbusters universe in ways that will include different films, TV shows, merchandise, all things that are part of modern filmed entertainment," Reitman told Deadline.

"It's just the beginning of what I hope will be a lot of wonderful movies."
