Ghostbusters Star Harold Ramis Has Died

The actor turned director played Dr Egon Spengler in the 80s hit film...

Ghostbusters star Harold Ramis has died at the age of 69.

The cause of death is still unclear.

As an actor he was best known for his role as Dr Egon Spengler, one of the ghost-busting team in the hit 1980s film, although he also had small parts in comedies including Knocked Up, in which he played Seth Rogan's father.

Harold was also an acclaimed director with credits on The Office US as well as films such asGroundhog Day, National Lampoon's Vacation and mob comedy Analyze This.

Today many of the actors Harold worked with took to Twitter to pay tribute to the director.

The Office star,Rainn Wilson, wrote: "Was honored to have gotten to work with Harold Ramis, the Buddha of Comedy. Brilliant, humble, radiant. We've lost an icon."

Meanwhile John Cusack posted on the social networking site: "Just heard - very sad. Great soul Great mind - great guy - RIP."

"Harold was a master - a gentle wry subverter and as decent honest and kind a director as I've ever worked with - so sad."
